Where?

Dunoon Foodbank is a small local charity providing food, meals and services, including pre-loved school uniform distribution, to some of Dunoon and Kirn’s most vulnerable people. The space is also being utilised for a youth club one night a week, a project established through Planet Youth that directly responds to local needs.

The foodbank is housed in a building owned by Argyll and Bute Council and rented to the charity on a full repair lease.

Despite the essential and practical role the foodbank plays in tackling poverty, the cost of the lease diverts funds that could be used to deliver core services into rent and maintenace.

Local Place Plan

  • Ensure that essential community services that tackle poverty and address need can operate from this space by designating this building for community use at a reduced rate.
  • Make improvements to the building so the asset can be maximised to address local needs more effectively.

Community Action Plan

  • Local stakeholders to work together to explore how to maximise the Foodbank building and generate income to support an essential local service.
