Where?

The Isle Martin Trust manages Isle Martin on behalf of the communities of Lochbroom and Coigach. The island is at present uninhabited but we do run a 3 day a week seasonal ferry service and community groups such as schools, sailing clubs, conservation teams and people interested in the history of the island are regular visitors and the island is a great resource for learning. We have a really interesting ecology and aim to manage it sustainably with tree-planting programmes, coppicing and data collection.

The island hosted Scotland's first Seaweed Festival which was a science and arts festival celebrating all things seaweedy and the part seaweed plays in the health of our oceans and shores.

We hope to continue to make the island accessible to as many of the local community as possible as well as visitors to the area. It is important our young people learn about how to care for our land sustainably and make deep links with our natural environment. the island is ideal for this. We want to continue to host events and gatherings, with a focus on supporting groups and individuals who are active in responding to the climate challenge.
