Where?

A Glasgow historical landmark, Speirs Wharf is an area of the Glasgow Canal that stretches across Glasgow City - the canal, itself, being just one part of the much-longer Forth & Clyde Canal which crosses central Scotland.

Its buildings are synonymous today with the Wharf, buildings originally constructed in 1851 to serve as the offices of the Forth & Clyde Navigation Co. & the City of Glasgow Grain Mills & Store. In 1989, the buildings were converted & currently they house 150 loft-style apartments, a private leisure centre, & 19 commercial units.

Though much of the Wharf is privately owned - much of it isn't, as well!

Links below for the many things to do around Speirs Wharf - including an independent local café, & the Forth & Clyde Canal Spur Towpath that is just across the canal from the Wharf.

*Accessibility note - though the 'What to do nearby' feature just across the canal of the Forth & Clyde Canal Spur Towpath (link below & also a separate listing here on the Glasgow Green Map) is largely accessible for those with mobility impairments &/or users of wheeled supports such as wheelchairs or walkers, some of the historical architectural features of Speirs Wharf, such as cobble in some places, may be a barrier to access.
